Whole Masoor Dal (Whole Red Lentils)-1/2 cup
Water-4 cups (same cup as above!)
Turmeric (Haldi) powder-1/2 tea spoon
Salt–1/2 tea spoon or to taste
Cumin-whole (Jeera)— 1/2 tea spoon
Desi Ghee (clarified butter)-2 tea spoon
Wash the Masoor Dal. Put the cooker on flame and add desi ghee (Clarified butter). When the ghee heats up, add the cumin seeds for browning. Add the chopped up onion and garlic. SauteSauté for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and sauté some more for another minute. Add the dal, turmeric, salt and water. Close the lid and let it come to full pressure. Reduce flame to SIMsim and let it cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the flame and let the cooker cool down.
Your simple Masoor dal is ready.
